Here are some of our recommendations on what you can do to protect your privacy while learning online.
Always log off from shared devices
When learning online, you might be using a device that other people have access to. This could include family members, other students from your school, or even people you don’t know if you are using a public device.
If you’re using a shared device, always log off as soon as you’re done using Khan Academy. This is an important way to protect your account while also keeping your progress safe and accurate.
To log out of your account on a browser, click on your name at the upper right-hand corner and choose Log out.
Another option is to visit our direct logout page www.khanacademy.org/logout.
You’ll be logged out instantly!
On the mobile app, tap on the gear icon at the upper right-hand corner and choose Sign out.
Usernames should never include real names
Choosing a username for your account allows you to pick a unique set of characters that can be used to log in to Khan Academy.
However, it’s important to remember that it could be viewed by other users, such as when you post a question or an answer in our Community Forums. Because of this, avoid using real names, nicknames, or any other information that could be used to identify you or someone else when choosing a username for your account.

Make your password uniquely yours
A password is a perfect complement to a username. And just like your username, it should be strong and unique to you!
Creating and maintaining a strong password is one of the first steps to help ensure the security of your account. In general, try to combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols to create a password that only you will know.

Be thoughtful about what you post
The community is a great place to ask for help, answer questions, or discuss the content to learn even more!
As members of such a helpful community, we are all expected to be respectful to one another at all times so everyone can feel comfortable learning. This means you should be thoughtful with what you post, never start or reply to off-topic posts (downvote or flag them instead) and, never post or ask for personal information in your profile or comments. In general, don’t share your name, personal details, or any kind of information that isn’t appropriate to share publicly anywhere. And remember: if you wouldn't be comfortable with a parent or teacher reading what you’re writing, it’s best not to post it.
