How do I use the Course Mastery Progress Report?

You can track your students' mastery progress at the course level to see how the class is trending as a whole in the Course Mastery Progress Report.



Teachers see each student's mastery percentage (the total mastery points accumulated to date over the total possible mastery points to accumulate in that course). Teachers also can look at the bar chart to visualize how their class is trending towards its goals.

We include a median percentage mastered figure as a quick way for teachers to track class progress. Hovering over the bars shows which students fall into each specific category. Teachers can also elect to hide students - which collapses individual students names and allows for teachers to project course mastery while maintaining privacy. 


When digging into a specific unit, teachers see the classes ‘unit mastery’ towards that specific unit. (a percentage based on total mastery points accumulated in that unit/total available mastery points in that unit.) 

Similar to course mastery, teachers can see a bar chart visualizing class progress, and can hide student names to project. If teachers want to dig into individual skills to identify what to focus on in class, they can see all underlying skills and student progress on that skill. Under the unit bar charts, Teachers can see a breakdown of student performance on specific skills within the unit.

You can encourage your students' mastery of a specific unit at any time! Assign a unit to a class, group, or individual directly from the progress page to make data-driven decisions about assignments. Khan Academy supports student agency by generating suggestions for what to work on next for motivation and clarity of movement through the course.
